External validation is something you attach to self worth heavily. The impact this has on you might not be something you are comfortable with because a person who does give you that external validation isn’t necessarily more loving than someone who doesn’t. I’d say do the things you think are important, go volunteer, split your goals into smaller more easy to complete tasks and consistently meet those. push towards a self love you can be certain about.
I think external validation and just wanting to be complimented are two different things. In my past relationship and my time being single I felt very good about myself, confidence at a all time high, but being with a partner who doesn’t seem to acknowledge it anymore just makes me feel weird. My partner also did compliment me when we started dating and now it’s like he doesn’t need to tell me or something.. I just like being hyped up, especially when I think I look good.
I get what you’re saying, putting effort in and only getting a “you ready” from the person you care about can definitely feel wrong, especially in the absence of compliments that were there previously, does your boyfriend like compliments? Do they impact him the same way they do you?
