Ok guys… I’m so sorry for this bizarre question but like.. Pap smears? I need to get one what should I expect? Or how should I prep?? I’m so scared that I’ve been holding off on an appt. (Ik so bad of me)

You get them once you’re 21 and only once a year. No prep just make sure you’re relaxed. If not you’ll likely feel more tension and it’ll be painful. It lasted like 15 seconds when I got mine back in June when I turned 21 last winter, they just do 2 swabs of your cervix in the back then they pressed my belly and my the front of my vagina at the same time. I guess to make sure I wasn’t feeling any lumps or any pain. Then it was over after that

Ok so, once you turn 18 yes you should be getting paps. What you’ll expect: it’s all women, I promise. My first time was an unfortunate situation I had just lost my virginity so it was EXTREMELY uncomfortable and tight. Some nurses do lube it up, but it’s literally a clear plastic tube going up your canal, so it’s bound to be a little uncomfortable. If you’re not a virgin or on your period it can help lessen the pressure imo.

But basically they’re just sticking a tube down there to check your vitals and make sure everything is good. They sometimes use these little tweezer type abominations. But unfortunately inevitable to feel validated after, many women including my mother and I feel the same way too. I promise you though, it doesn’t take long at all, they’re gentle and they’ll make sure you are comfortable beat as possible. Good luck gf 🩷

Maybe this is just the practices I’ve been to, but most places make you wait till you’re 21 to start getting a pap. (I just turned 21 and they want to get me in. Meanwhile was I was 18, they wouldn’t touch me)

That’s crazy I got recommended by my doctor to go to an clinic to get them done right after I turned 18
