I don’t listen to her music, I prefer her old stuff. However I will defend to the end of the earth women deciding to do what they want sexually. The cover art is not even the most egregious I have seen. The problem here is not her album cover. The problem is the idea that women cannot engage sexually willingly.
thats how i feel about sydney sweeney and her soap… she’s making a BAG and getting the target audience to actually shower. and the point of feminism is to choose how you can live as a woman. people act like she’s setting us back 100 years nah she doing her own thing as others do theirs
I could be overthinking it but I kinda wonder if she’s catering to the male gaze almost in a satirical way, kind of like a parody? I’m kind of a bitchy feminist but even if she’s 100% playing the tropes straight I cannot bring myself to be mad at a pop star putting on her sparkly boots and singing about how she likes sex with men. Let the woman live, ya know?
I think what’s weird to me isn’t any of her actions , but how other people are responding to it. Like why did she gain more attention and recognition by having to get sexual… like idc what she does cause it’s her business and her body…but I will critique society as a whole in how over-sexualized it is.
i agree with what you’re saying. however, i do find that women who call themselves “tradwives” as opposed to just housewives or stay-at-home moms are often pushing a narrative that feminism is toxic and that being a working wife/mother is somehow wrong or lesser, which…is an issue
