‘If someone slanders you, you must have done something to deserve it, bc why else would they do that?’ is such an incredibly psychotic attitude I don’t see how you can exist in a functioning society. I mean, doesn’t that extend as a blank check for literally ANY way a person can possibly mistreat another person? Why even have laws then if you assume any act that looks like it might be revenge is justified? You’ve never had someone mistreat you when you felt you didn’t deserve it?
