Honestly asking a question and a follow up question sounds like you care. Complimenting things like her earrings or the color of her shirt. I love when someone does that.

Start with a question you’re genuinely curious about. Something you can piggyback off of and let the conversation flow from there. It feels weird if you’re asking questions like it’s an interrogation or an interview even though it kind of is.

Serious questions to get to know what type of person she: ask what her main values are in life. Then when lists off, let’s say dignity or humor, ask her to explain each one. Get to understand why she said what she said
