i don't agree with the wording or treating it as universal tbh. i always went by whoever invites the other out pays for the outing. my culture is leans towards a bit more traditional, the man is expected to pay during the get to know you stage but once they're in a real relationship then the woman is expected to occasionally pay to display financial independence. my bf grew up with a diff culture but similar mindset so this works well for us but i don't think it's one size fits all by any means

I think it’s a positive thing if a man offers to pay, but I prefer to cover my own so there’s no sense of owing anybody anything. And anyway, he and I are there for the same thing, to see if we are interested in each other.

Agree with apex predictor part but I don’t really agree with it. I don’t mind paying for my own and usually plan to unless the guy specifically says he wants to.
