Mothers: I am about to go on my first date with a single mom of two children. I really like her so far and am excited to go out. What advice do you have for me as someone with no kids going into this?
For context, we're lesbians (she's 27 I'm 23)
Ty!
Focus on her and wait for her to open up about her kids. It’s a topic that can be sensitive and moms are naturally protective of our kids :)

Not a parent but my friend is a single parent, and based on his experience I’d say just be very understanding if she has to prioritize her kid over you

don’t try and meet the children right away, and when you do meet them don’t try to play “i’m your new parent!”. i’m not a mom, but i hated when my mom’s bf’s tried to get too close to me and my sister too fast

Don’t make backhanded compliments about them being a single parent. Hearing it must be soo hard but your such an amazing mom gets frustrating sometimes and feels a bit condescending.

Yes and don't have this expectation of meeting them! There are a lot of parents that protect their kids by separating their dating life with their personal so don't feel offended if they don't want you to meet them any time soon (or maybe even ever).

100%, I'd expect nothing less

I get this, my parents are divorced and my mom did this. She never introduced us until 6 months-year
