A trick i learned in college that i still do now is when someone tells you something about themselves, just ask them more questions about that thing and be curious to learn more. People love talking about themselves lmao

I usually just turn whatever question they asked me back onto them after they answer. Like if they ask “what’s your major?” I’ll say “chem, what’s yours?” And do whatever I can to ask them things so that they’re the one talking. People will talk to you more if you let them talk about themselves. You can ask even weird questions sometimes (I can’t always tell the difference), as long as they can still paint themselves in a positive light by the answer.
