There are a few reasons I like my preferred length (some are even practical!), but I’ve found twice annual haircuts to the bottom of my shoulder blades to be a nice routine. It’s short enough that my hair stays manageable, but long enough that I can do whatever I want with my hair, including a proper braided (sometimes called ballerina) bun.
I used to have hair down past my butt and then a few months ago I cut it right around my collarbone. It’s been so much easier to manage and I spend a lot less time taking care of it, which is great when I already have low energy. I think the main downside of shoulder length hair is probably just that depending on exactly how long it is, it might brush your neck a lot and be irritating
I was in this same boat a few years ago. I ended up going thru with it and donating 12” of hair! I have always received compliments about the natural red color of my hair so it felt nice to share that with someone :) not only that but to this day i keep my hair shoulder length cuz its so much lighter and easier to take care of. All in all i say go for it! You can always grow it back out
Heyy!!! So this was me a few years ago! I had my hair waist length and chopped it to shoulder length. I really loved having it both lengths tbh, there's pros and cons to each. Only frustrating part was that when i was ready to have it long again i had to go through a 1.5 yr long time of an awkward mid length and that was not fun 🤣 so definitely consider the maintenance , how fast your hair grows, and if you want to keep it short!
