My parents did this. Absolutely pisses me off when they ask. My partner and I have signals when I need the subject changed. He also is never allowed to yell at me. The same for me yelling at him is a no.

That is great you have that set up with your partner. Mine has agreed on me texting him when I’m upset because I don’t like talking out my emotions at all when I’m upset.
