so i’ve never been tested for autism but everyone around me thinks i am for sure on the spectrum. what does this mean? i have no idea whether i am nor am not actually autistic.

the way i was taught in therapy when my therapist brought up that it was highly possible i was autistic was that the label doesn’t matter but it can potentially help you understand why you do things the way you do and find solutions for things you might be struggling with

One thing that really helped me was listening to the experiences of other autistic women online. Look into both high and low masking, as the symptoms can be harder to pick up on if you’ve been masking your entire life. You might hear something you’ve experienced repeatedly and realize that it could be related. The most surprising thing for me was realizing just how much of my experiences and personal behaviors were connected to my autism. It feels obvious now, but at first it really wasn’t!
