my best friend is a naturally sarcastic person and i love how funny she is etc but the one thing that always bothers me is when i take a joke literally and she goes "it was SARCASM" in a condescending tone and then i feel bad 💀 like this is NOT new between either of us girl!!! mb for not picking up!

Me when i tell my soon to be ex gf i have issues receiving tone then she proceeds to say stuff to me in a harsh tone and when I say something she hits me with “babe i was kidding” :/ didn’t feel like it…

to be fair i do think that is the fear of neurotypical people when you don’t understand the joke. which is why they take it so personally

This is what I’m afraid neurotypical people think I think. 🥲 But I understand that just because I didn’t get it, doesn’t mean their joke wasn’t funny! In my case, I feel like it would be…arrogant(?) for me to say that just because I didn’t catch that it was a joke right away means it’s dumb? Sometimes my brain simply processes things literally by default. 🫡
