^^ + It helped me understand that my migraines (chronic since I was 4; still couldn't find any effective medication as an adult; MRI/CT scans always clean) were from overstimulation and not an underlying health issue! Haven't had a migraine in almost two months since diagnosis because I've been more aware of my environment + reducing sensory "intake." Normal therapy helps with the manifestations of my other issues/fears (esp. those exacerbated by trauma)
yes, followed by CBT. it helped me understand a lot of things i felt ashamed for were due to my neurodevelopmental disorder, so most of those things were literally just me, if that makes sense (obviously not including things that could possibly hurt the feelings of others, which is why i recommend CBT). check out prosperhealth (not an ad i just found this super easy to access with a busy schedule). i wish you the best in whatever you decide to do. good luck!
I am sure it has its benefits. I got diagnosed this past fall and have been in autism-informed therapy since, but nothing has really helped me still. Sometimes it just makes me feel even worse. I don’t want to be a downer, but I just want to clarify that it’s not exactly a panacea and won’t help much at all for some people. But I guess worth it in case it works out well for you
