Never been to a frat party before and I’m planning on going to one either tonight or sometime this weekend. Any tips for an overstimulated autistic girl at a frat?

Bring noise cancelling earbuds or headphones if you have them. Don’t be afraid to use them. Tell whoever you’re with that you might need to step out. Don’t be ashamed if you have to leave shortly after arriving. Be kind to yourself.

Parties are honestly super fun to observe! My first few I stuck to the outside with my drink (ALWAYS bring your own, whether it’s a water bottle or otherwise) and just watched drunk people being silly. It feels less awkward and more safe to bring a friend. There’s also typically spots that are less loud/hot depending on the setup

I always suggest using loops if you don’t want something fully noise canceling but instead noise reducing! It blocks out excess noise but if someone speaks directly to you, you could hear it! I find that overstimulating places become more bearable when I’m drunk but that’s not so much a tip as it is a personal preference lol, if you are going to drink though be sure you hydrate and cover your drink. I’d say try to pregame to avoid drinking at the frat in general. Stay safe!

Wear shoes you don’t care about getting dirty, keep your keys/student ID in ur shoe, and pants with pockets to put ur phone in that you don’t mind shit being spilled on (so maybe like black jeans). Despite the environment potentially being loud and obnoxious, the lack of overhead lighting helps keep things less overstimulating. If you can, it’s best to come and go as a group

Also don’t wear a coverup unless ur trying to lose it. Plus it’ll probably be hot af there so you won’t need it

Thanks sm!! I have 2 pairs of loops and they’re great for concerts so I’m hoping they’ll help w this too lol I’m mostly worried ab the safety of drinking there so pregame prob would help a lot thx ❤️

If you get triggered by people bumping into you, map out an exit plan. It WILL take a hot minute for you to get out of there once a ton of people get in, so pay attention to how you’re feeling. Please watch your drink, don’t be too trusting, update us after, and have so much fun!!!
