nobody will bother you unless you’re in a situation with the kind of people who would do that (frat parties, sororities, etc). it’s much easier to find kind and accepting people in college

in my experience you mostly get ignored if you don’t look like the sorority girls. even by other girls not just guys. and i’ve had less helpful teachers that treat the sorority girls much better than me right infront of me

A lot of ppl don’t leave the high school mentality behind I was so sad first in college when I figured it out. Now senior year and knowing professors s9me of them still got it too 😔😭

Even though a lot of people still have the highschool nonsense with them, you’re also going to be around a lot of more educated folks who won’t be assholes. I’ve always been fat and found a lot of good people during my time at uni.

The trick is to find “your” people. Your college/university will probably have some kind of club showcase/convention to see what’s out there but even if they don’t, find the info on your own. Make friends. Most colleges are too big for people to really mess with others (though Tbf even my high schools were like that. 3.3k & 4k respectively) but finding your clique will be a serious make or break for how you feel.

At my first college I got bullied hard in the dorms and things continued to go downhill for over two years to the point where I was so anxious and depressed all the time I couldn’t get to my classes and had to withdraw. I’m now trying school again at a much bigger community college and that’s been better

I’ve had absolutely no issues. I even joined a sorority my sophomore year as most of my friends were in it. I will say I do go to a liberal arts college and that may be why my experiences differ from the other commenters.

I went to NTID/RIT in New York. There’s the occasional rich snob who coasts on daddy’s money, but I met a lot of wonderful people.

I went to ub. The pre med kids were tearing each other apart not uplifting one another. The ppl of color were so segregated. We are a diverse college for sure but they don’t accept you if ur from that country bc then your not x race. And if you were mixed well your toast.

I was this way too! My best advice is to start a club and you will make plenty of lovely friends. I’m sorry you went through that you didn’t deserve that.
