when did everyone get diagnosed? i’ve always felt like i wasn’t neurotypical and i recently got diagnosed with adhd but i feel like a lot of my symptoms align more with autism than adhd, i just feel like i need more help than what they’re giving me for it

i also could just be overthinking it completely bc i was expecting more of a fix for what’s wrong with me when i got treatment for adhd but it’s only helped with my focus a little and nothing else, i just wanna know if i should go through the effort of getting testing or just take the adderall and try to be happy

I got unofficially diagnosed as a toddler, but my parents forgot about it and told me nothing. I then went and got tested on my own at 18 and was diagnosed then. Getting tested helped a lot because it gave me a lot of answers. I’d recommend it.

i was diagnosed when i was 3. i mean my autistic traits were more apparent then, like echolalia, rigidity, funny about textures, and lining up toys.

Never got diagnosed officially just unofficially by therapist and a lot of friends. I don’t plan on getting an autism diagnosis because I can get all the accommodations I need with the ADHD diagnosis easily and there’s more ways you can be legally discriminated with with an autism diagnosis.

You can find out a lot about Autism from autistic people online (find people using “actually autistic” hashtag or in titles or whatever) and see if that explains anything or gives you helpful tools. There’s not medication for Autism anyway and the specifically for autism therapies are about learning to socialize and more for younger kids. And the testing process is more expensive and all that. Ultimately you’re choice, but because of cost and it making you more open to discrimination, it’s good

To think about why you want a diagnosis and what it would give you
