I remember when I was younger in middle and highschool I was was diagnosed with adhd and Asperger’s and back then it felt like social death but now it’s okay to be ADHD but I’m afraid to tell people I’m autistic because they may look at me differently.

I had a super similar experience. It took me years to become comfortable sharing the ASD diagnosis with people I care about.

I tell some people who are parents to autistic kids that I can trust so they can know that kids can grow strong just in a different way and have patience with them. I know we all on different spectrum but they should be kind and understanding.

Or treating it as a intelligence deficiency rather than a social deficiency

People will treat me normal but then learn that I’m autistic and IMMEDIATELY start speaking to me like I’m a child. I HATE IT

I don’t blame you and honestly I wouldn’t share in today’s society because they start treating you like a child

Exactly! But for me, they’d do it without me even telling them somehow. 🥲 Not to mention how I’ve seen so many autistic folks - especially if they’re queer or women - who share their diagnosis getting dismissed as “blue hairs making it up for attention.” Like…what positive attention do they think we could possibly be getting out of it? Please be serious. 😭
