I’m very selective of who I introduce to my special interests (d&d, video games, etc) bc I genuinely get so upset when someone doesn’t take it seriously.

I really get this, and I’m almost the mirror image or opposite in some ways! I totally respect people’s intensity of interest (I get very into things myself). But sometimes when someone excitedly tries to introduce me to something that I’m not into yet, I get intimidated and anxious because I feel like I can’t match their energy or like it the “right” way.

Me when I talk about forensics and someone goes “oh so you like criminal minds” like yea I do but they get stuff wrong I watch it for spencer Reid. I’m talking big boy death cases I want to talk about bc people don’t know

I totally understand, I tried to share some of the shows and books I enjoy with some of my friends recently and they did not take it seriously and were kind of mean about it. Experiences like that have made me really nervous to share my interests with people, so I feel like I come across as more closed off than I’d like to.

That certainly not to say that they’re doing anything wrong, or that their interest aren’t objectively great! It’s just an interesting curiosity how sometimes people can have opposing autisms lol.

I struggle with not coming on too strong I will admit but I’m just an excitable person
