If you guys suspected that you had autism before your diagnosis, were you correct? I suspect I have ASD but I don’t want to invalidate others or mislabel myself if I don’t have it. But I know I suffer from symptoms of autism no matter my test-

Also because most self-diagnosed individuals don’t try to glamourise it and have studied up on it fairly well. I was recently diagnosed after a few years of suspicion, research, and affirmation from other Autistic folks.

-I’ve heard of self diagnosing to be mostly positive in the autistic community because prices and wait times can be high for a doctor

Yes I did. I got diagnosed at a young age because of our suspicions and researching

This is nice to hear. Do you think that if I’ve studied up on it and sat with it for a while that I’m possibly ok to self diagnose? I’m not gonna parade it around but most likely tell my close family. I just don’t want paper diagnosis’ to come b*tch at me for glamorizing myself and wanting that attention (absolutely not my goal)

I don’t think that’s an issue at all! There are many barriers and reasons someone may not be able to or may not want to seek an official diagnosis. The only time it’s an issue, in my perspective, is when it’s flaunted as some quirky and cute trait, but I get a strong feeling that’s not you at all. :)
