People have made autism into the quirky/sexy/popular/attractive thing for the moment, but I truly fear for the community when the trends change. My sister is on the spectrum and guys fetishize that sooo much. I'm worried about her.

Like I don't think she understands in the same way that I do WHY she's getting all the attention for the autism, and I don't think she'll understand why when it goes away. I think it'll sucks so bad. I'm just worried for her idk.

after being treated like i was less than human by men for most of my life for not being “normal” enough it seems incredibly shallow and fake when the way i am every day for my entire life becomes “trendy” because i know that one day it will once again be something to be judged for and i’ll hold my breath until then

Lmao u say this but then where’s all the ppl attracted to us We hang out in groups of other autistic people & not w neurotypicals, majority of the time aren’t the “cool kids” so where’s the long line of huzz and popularity we’re supposedly getting Honestly I doubt this is true lol

She is young like I can try my best to explain it to her but I feel like it would confuse her or upset her

Exactly. This exactly. It became trendy as she was starting to like guys and be introduced to the internet and everything. So she just doesn't even have the kinda social context yk
