I second this. I think the idea #1 is getting at is that friends will be there for you at night for fun activities and for things that you need help with that don’t require police. To that point, 1. There are services that you can use to help in these situations, 2. It’s not guaranteed that your friends will help you, 3. Even if they do, they will hold this over your head to bargain later on. I think it’s human nature. To me, friendship feels too transactional and I don’t understand the value.
