Bake->cool->freeze if you have time->frost
I've read people freeze it practically right out of the oven
I typically cool them for 15-20 minutes so they can finish carryover cooking after coming out of the oven, but yeah they don’t need to cool completely

Okay hi! Update: I have 8 cake layers in the fridge. Some of them sank in the middle but I guess I'll fill them with something or trim the edges
