Autistic person here: we’re often stereotyped as having an obsession with trains. I can’t even really argue with it cuz a lot of those in the autistic community really DO have trains as a special interest (not me but I see the appeal and could totally imagine myself getting into it)

I fully stand by this post tho. Regardless of whether or not we personally have trains as a special interest, virtually ALL of us see how much they would improve transportation and are pushing for more to be built in the US

We have trains but not GOOD trains. You ever seen the shit they got in Japan and China? Sheeeeeeesh. Even Europe blows us out of the water Everything in America’s so car-centric because auto makers lobby the fuck out of congress to push for more roads, highways, parking, etc

China has bullet trains running a distance equivalent to most of the east coast that only take like 4 hours and leave EVERY 20 MINUTES. Imagine taking the train from NY to Florida (or from anywhere to anywhere in this country) and not stressing about missing it because the next one’s just about ready to depart whatever time you happen get there
