Yep. However I did make more at a full time child development center but my boss was crazy and making me do borderline illegal things so I much rather have this job However remember this is a true part time job. We have 4 hour class days 4 days a week, and teachers are contracted to come in 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after. So everyone in this job knows what we’re getting into and most people are just moms doing this to have something to do during the day while kids are at school
Like I would be just doodling and coloring, probably My Little Pony, in my notebook or writing about some advanced branch of science I was super into. And they would yell at me or single me out or grab me by the wrist because I, a literal child, couldn’t sit still in a chair for 8 hours straight while staring at a whiteboard and not making a single sound.
Currently fighting with parents over randomly dropping their kids off one day in underwear bc “they’re potty trained!” Ma’am your daughter hasn’t spoken to us the entire school year. She isn’t potty trained if she can’t tell us when she needs to piss. She’s going in diapers sorry not sorry
I’m sorry that you went through that. Those teachers were horrible teacher who lacked training and a conscious. I’ve taken so many classes on how to teach and include students with special needs so that we don’t do this. Teachers aren’t like this anymore at least the new ones aren’t
There’s a difference between discipline, and then just going on a power trip because you’re in full control of a group who’s obligated to listen to you. Some teachers/subs are definitely bullies, and “have beef” with students. Ive experienced it myself, and seen it happen to others.
ECE is a bit different than general education. But yeah, nobody goes into teaching to get rich If you get lucky and get a nice school district you’re golden but private schools and non-district preschools (there are no school districts in my area with pre-k) you’re going to be making less Especially if it’s half-day pre-k
i had parents putting kids in underwear as a potty training technique which is ok if you’re with a kid one on one but i was the only teacher for a room of 25 toddlers at that point it’s just abuse and the only reason it’s a “working” technique is bc it teaches the child to hold their pre out of the fear of discomfort, i’ve never had a kid do well with this in a school setting they usually end up with utis from holding it
The best part was that according to her, her husband used to teach at a University in the UK and they’d lived there for a while. I don’t remember the uni’s name. But you’d think she’d be used to the accent. Then again she once told us where the uni was and my friend also from the UK was like that’s wrong and told her so. She didn’t budge even though we pulled out google maps😂.
Oh my god, I had a teacher who got angry at me doodling while she was teaching geography. She was also extremely boring in class. Literally read from the book in a monotone voice. First I was yelled at and then she took me to the head teacher who took pdfs of my doodles and sent them to my parents and called them in for a meeting on how I was such a misbehaving child. My dad started laughing when he asked me what that was about.
No fr. Had a teacher in KINDERGARTEN, call me the R slur because I liked to look at the fucking butterflies outside the window during her little lectures or whatever like????? I’m still listening and passing ur class??? Why tf does it matter that I’m looking at butterflies. God and the list goes on and on with awful teachers.
