They have a sensitive skin version, try it, it works well if you lather it on in an even layer. Make sure you wash the area before and after with a gentle soap, I use dove

it works by dissolving keratin. both your skin and hair is made out of keratin. the reason it burns you is it’s dissolving the top layer of your skin. so be careful and don’t leave it on too long
