this is a health issue. so get bloodwork. vitamin d, ferritin, CBC, and thyroid. minoxidil is the only thing that actually regrows hair but if you fix the root cause it’ll grow back anyway. if it’s hormonal which is common washing it everyday is recommended, but you should also be blow drying it. scalp serum with caffeine helps. biotin doesn’t help hair growth unless you have an actual deficiency and taking biotin can skew most blood work so don’t take it unless you get blood work first
if it’s hormonal dht blockers (oral and topical). the treatment depends on the cause of the hairloss. credentials: i am a licensed cosmetologist that delt with hairloss that was hormonal and also from severe deficiencies. i had iron deficiency, vitamin d deficiency, hypothyroidism, and high androgens. i do not have hairloss anymore.
Also with most pets (especially cats) NEVER let them get near topical minoxidil if you do end up using that. Just getting it on your fingers, clothes, pillowcase, etc will kill them if they come in contact with it, even if it’s dried. Also don’t take nutrafol until you find out if the hair loss is caused by a vitamin deficiency. They market to ppl with other kinds of hair loss but excluded those same pplfrom their studies. It only helps vitamin deficiencies and is a scam for other hairloss types
Also the hairloss might just be because of stress. Doesn’t have to be mental stress, either. Illness can also be a big stress on your body (i had norovirus and it was the catalyst for my current balding, plus lots of new stress). Stress-induced hairloss (TE) often kicks in 3 months after the event. But you definitely should still get blood checked! Just know that you should also protect your peace
I’m aware of that but I think it’s still important to mention this. If it is due to a chronic issue and they were to take it, see lots of growth, and stop since things seem better then it would be devastating to suddenly see all that new growth fall out. It’s not fair to the OP to avoid mentioning that it’s not a true cure for every hairloss type.
I acknowledge that my original comment was kind of extreme and fear-mongering and apologize for that, but I have and know people with TE (which is NOT chronic loss) that stopped taking minoxidil and the new hair fell out. Obviously hair will still grow back during that time since it’s not something chronic, but the new hair that was caused by minoxidil will fall out. New hair will have grown at the same time, but the minoxidil hair doesn’t stay (at least in the case of me and many others I know)
