Honestly i think cutting off a good chunk might be good. Maybe 4 to 6 inches? The ends look a little scraggly and trimming them could help (Not trying to be mean; I’m speaking from experience. My hair looked like yours (which still looks very nice btw!!) and after I cut it to chest-length it just looked a lot better and felt so much healthier). But I know how hard it is hard to cut your hair when it finally gets long so do what’s best for you.
Try some curl routine products, if you have the money. I think it’s possible you might have a decent curl pattern if you give it proper care. If you know you don’t or don’t want to pay to experiment, then definitely get at least four inches of the dead stuff off, your hair has a lot of taper and thinning, and try a deep conditioning mask and hair oil.
I like argon or jojoba oil, and Color Wow makes really good curly and just general anti frizz products. Marc Anthony has a really good deep conditioner on the lower end, Kerastase on the higher end. Honestly, anything you do to add moisture to your hair and keep the dead stuff off will be your best bet. Also, silk or satin pillowcases and keeping your hair in a claw clip or down while wet. A hair elastic causes major breakage on wet hair.
It’s a little tricky there, since my mother’s side is Mediterranean (my thin hair comes from my dad) and has a little bit if a different hair type, but we use the Not Your Mother’s line and my cousins all swear by Carol’s Daughter, though they have thicker and coarser hair. You’d have to find what works for your hair type, though.
