Probably, if it does the same thing when you just wash it then yes it seems to be a loose curly type

when i don’t brush my hair after i shower and air dry it it’s a little wavy sometimes but i thought its just because of knots

Yeah, thats a sign of your hair having some type of texture whether it’s wavy or curly. I say try to style it wavy/curly and see how it comes out!
