Imma be real, don’t afterpay for wants, especially tattoos. Debt isn’t fun. Don’t do it for something you can get any time. The fact people are after paying tattoos…is insane. Especially if the shop is working with a company. If the client can’t pay anymore, the company deals with it. The shop still gets paid. Don’t do payment plans or take loans for a want.

sounds like a dumb decision to put a payment plan on something that is a want. do you though

I would be getting the tattoo until earliest and ideally December. I’d have a few months to save so I could potentially pay a little more at the appointment and then do the payment plan

I mean if the artist is down to do that sort of plan then I don't see why not ask, at the end of the day you would be giving the artist the money for their work and I don't think they'd be upset about that even if it's in smaller increments. I do think it should be something you bring up before any sessions if you weren't planning on doing that already, since waiting until then might feel like a waste of time/ resources for them if they don't want to do that plan

I feel like maybe you don’t understand how much tattoos can be tied to the heart and healing for people. It’s not dumb fr, it’s tryna find a way to make it happen.

doesn’t make it any less financially irresponsible

sure it’s healing but putting yourself in debt will DESTROY any bit of healing you’d get from a tattoo

Realistically it’d only be 2 months on the payment plan and it’s more of an honor system type of deal. From how she’s explained it we discuss an appropriate amt/ when to pay and it’s at her discretion based on how things go up until the appointment communication wise if that’s an option. The only reason I wanna do it is cause I’m traveling to her area and won’t be there again for another yr and I’ve been waiting for a chance to get it done. I’d only have 40% of the total on the plan max

I understand that if I’m payment planning the whole thing, but realistically I’d have 60-70% of the amount with me at time of appointment. That plus alr paying the deposit when I book id have no more than 40% of the total on a payment plan (so about 2-3months). Only reason I’m actually considering it is cause I have to travel to her area around that time and it’d be another year before I could even think about going again. Kinda been sitting on this design for a while and I’d like to do it

Most definitely will bring it up during booking and consultation! I just wanted to ask here cause I’m still new to tattoos and idk if that’d be a rude amount to suggest given the total. I plan on paying at least 50-60% of the total after the appointment and that minus my deposit would be left for the payment plan

It’s your finances, do what you feel is best for you. Just be cautious. That’s crazy it’s off honor system and not having any written contract

ultimately it’s your call but i would focus on saving money for those other things you mentioned that sound more urgent (dental work and med school prep) just giving you the advice i wish people gave me about finances lol
