Hot take or not idk: if a tattoo artist claims to be a one of the best but cant work on darker skin and purposely decides not to learn how, they’re an amateur and full on ignorant.

You can’t be one of the best while also limiting yourself to lighter skin tones

If they were the best then they would be able to bring the same quality to every client, no matter the skin tone. Skills also equals the ability to adapt and perform in any situation needed

I don't care how good of a tattoo artists you are on white skin if you can't tattoo darker skin, you're not a good tattoo artist.

And even if they are not good at it they should continue to practice cause on different fake skin tones to become better. You can be the best and deny someone the service cause you can’t do a certain skin tone

mans is not the best if he can’t work on darker skin. you gotta find an artist with skills man. an actual tattoo artist should be able to ink anyone who walks in the door

Completely agree. Same goes for hairstylists imo they sh hound all know how to properly wash, cut, etc all hair textures.

Not a hot take at all, I’m trying to become a tattoo apprentice and I specifically want to specialize in darker skin because of how many people I’ve met who “can’t” get a tattoo bc some artist didn’t bother trying. The biggest difference is the way it takes to pigments, easily learned and adapted!

Imagine being that arrogant lol That’s a crappy artist if they don’t want to do darker skin or even learn how to

Shouldn't be able to call yourself the best if you can't at least do some basic black and grey on darker skin but I can understand someone not wanting the take the time to learn if they serve in a market that's predominantly white like a lot of the Midwest
