I like when author don’t mention the race but instead mention physical attributes like hair type and facial features. That way I can imagine them however I want

i’m white so maybe i’m out of place here, but i just can’t help but be very annoyed! this was in lights out the dark stalker romance (i know😭) and it just doesn’t sit right when me when authors do that and i don’t even wanna keep reading! not a single white character is ever even described as “that white guy” 😑😑

so you missed the point. i personally like when they describe everyone’s ethnicity equally without biased writing, but most authors make white the assumed race and primarily only describe someone’s race if they are black. an example being if the author says “the couple living next to us” and then we later find out they are white vs. “the black couple living next to us” where everyone else in the book who is white isn’t described as such.
