So many massive reveals in the trailers that makes me a little sad for new viewers. I mean, first that they show Rocky—I was freaking out when that was revealed in the book—and they tell us he was forced to go, which is revealed at the end of the book. That’s so wild honestly. I can tell they’ll be making some creative changes to fit what they can bc it’s a massive book, but I am a little nervous. Seeing the ship moving through ice was a little reassuring though.

They also showed the base explosion, but without context it’s alright. It was really cool seeing Rocky’s ship visually because I had no idea how to picture it in the book, though in the book I figured it was more big solid shapes because making the jump to the ship in the trailer seems a little… spiky? I also liked seeing Grace crushed up against the computer (for the plot point inclusion, I’m not a sadist)

In the way of general book discussion though, my goodness I was crying for Rocky. First when he sacrifices himself, then when he leaves, THEN when we think he’s dead from taumoeba because I made that connection instantly, though I figured because of the different acoustic configurations of xenonite that his ship would be fine since his was different from the clear version on the Hail Mary. When that connection wasn’t made though, I grieved
