I NEED BOOK RECS. What I’m looking for: - slow burn - ACTUAL yearning - plot just as good as romance - but still romance focus Books I like for reference: Shatter me, OUABH, BTTM, Daughter of Pirate King, Lunar Chronicles Don’t like: Powerless (sry)

Also know some tv show couples I like: Kate and Antony (Bridgerton), Belly and Conrad (Tsitp), Steve and Nancy (Stranger things), Princess Mia and Nicholas (Princess Diaries 2), Giselle and Robert (Enchanted), Jinx and Ekko (arcane), Jim and Pam(the office), Rory and Jess/ Luke and Lorelai (Gilmore Girls), Hook and Emma(Once Upon a Time) looking for all those vibes

If you liked Lunar Chronicles, I highly recommend Renegades! It has the perspective of both main characters, and their dynamic felt very well written when I read it. It’s about superheroes and villains and what constitutes either of them, especially in a world in which the society is built around its heroes (don’t quote me exactly on that, it’s been a while since I’ve read it)

Absolutely not. That’s the exact opposite

Literally lust at first sight. Zero slow burn, and all they do is be horny for each other. Absolutely zero actual yearning.

Um, no? They hate each other at first. The main female character mentions that the male is physically attractive, yes, but they don’t like each other at all. It’s not until over half way through the book that anything happens between them.

I’ve read the books. They aren’t really enemies, it’s just a miscommunication trope.

Their families were on opposite sides of a conflict. Yes, they were enemies.

It’s handled poorly. It’s insta lust and not slow burn in the slightest. OP has stated she liked OUABH, which is incredibly slow burn. FW is not even slow burn in the slightest. They are “supposed” to be enemies because of their parents but the author does a poor job of handling it. The “enemies” arc is just miscommunication. I just think it’s a very poor rec for OP considering what they asked for.

Sorry I repeated myself but gosh I’m tired of seeing this book recommended as a slow burn enemies to lovers when it’s not even close.

So slow a burn that it’s not even introduced in the first book

I like fourth wing but I have to say it is a very poor example of enemies to lovers

Alright, I’ll take everyone’s word for it and retract my recommendation. This is one of the only romance novels I have ever read and I’m still reading it, so I probably don’t have as good of a perspective on what the other options are. I apologize.

It takes a lot of guts to admit when you’re wrong and apologize. I respect you greatly.

I loved the mmc. I’m such a sucker for unattractive men with terrible personalities in books. The enemies to lovers was amazing.

That’s the best kind of slow burn 🔥 if they get together in the first book I don’t want it
