Acotar needs to be studied cause it’s literally just smuttified pieces of literal scenes from other fantasy medias and now the authors going on press tours like she’s Shakespeare or something? 😭

It’s literally like one scene of smut per book for half the series. The rest is valid but calling every single book with sex smuttified is disingenuous when sex has existed in books since the beginning of literature. It is extremely similar to other series, but it’s also a lot of ppl’s gateway read into better fantasy and romantasy. So I’ll allow it. Just barely lol

100% It’s derivative trash, but everyone’s acting like it’s so original and amazing.

Hey I enjoyed the escapism of it all, the world building being more expansive than a wattpad book made it interesting but my complaint is not about popularity, it’s how the publishing world is acting like it’s a revolutionary piece of media

It’s more expansive than a lot of the poorly written slop pushed onto people these days and I can give it that, AND I can also honestly admit it got me back into reading too at one point BUT I’m also not going to act like I agree with the people making the book more than what it is

That’s a fair complaint. I just disagree with calling a book with one sex scene smuttified.
