I wish books would stop being marketed as “what if *insert popular book* was…”
Because it will ALWAYS set the book up for failure no matter how good it would have been anyway
There's some sort of disconnect between one's expectation of the book and the book itself because it makes the prospective reader think that it will give them the same feeling as reading the other one

Ok but once i did buy a book specifically because an author of one of my favorite book series had a testimony written on the back cover (and I loved it)

I find if they’re endorsed by another author, then they’re usually good! But I’ve seen so many books marketed as “hunger games meets Pride and Prejudice” (or whatever mix) and it always falls short of the expectations it sets for itself
