I want a story where a mind controlled protagonist gets killed by their friend while in mind control but the mind control fades as they die so they have to live with the fact that they killed their friend for nothing

It’s older so either you will need to still have a PS2 or use a PS2 emulator. However what happened is discussed some in the newest 2 games (can’t remember which goes into detail on his past) which are AMAZING and on PS4.
