On a reading spree of Nabokov’s novels. LOVE his writing. The Defense and Invitation to a Beheading might just be in my top 5 now, but I CNF Lolita. I know it’s supposed to be his best work, but part of me thinks that it was just his most controversial
Lolita is a masterclass of an unreliable narrator. Humbert is clearly a sick and twisted man, but the way he speaks masks the darkeness of his desires.

Yes, but I also don’t think that that should make it automatically his best work like a lot of people seem to view it.

I’m actually reading Pnin right now! It’s interesting. It feels much different than everything else I’ve read so far of his, still beautifully written, but “less out there” as my friend described it lol
