Genuinely I don’t understand the process of buying a book before you know if you like it. Reading a book I bought for $20 once then hating it and never reading it again is my fear.

Ok so clearly that didn’t make people happy lol. My library doesn’t order the books for free so I can never find the books I want to read specifically there so I have to buy them for kindle or another reading app. I love my library tho

I’ve never heard of a library that doesn’t have a purchase suggestion form (or whose librarians don’t take suggestions into consideration). That’s so upsetting

I wouldn’t ever spend 20 bucks on a standard edition of a book. I do buy before reading though, mostly from used stores/online. Once you find a really niche genre that you like it’s easy to predict if you’ll like a book. And I get impatient waiting for books from the library and theyre kinda gross, the last one I read had what looked like vomit all over the pages 🫣
