Because people are eager to get the new book, so they are more likely to spend extra on a hardcover. It’s all about profit, sadly

I have noticed that uk paperbacks tend to come out a bit quicker if you don’t mind that theyre a different dimension/a little stiffer than us paperbacks. I’ve done this a couple times, especially when they have a nicer cover

i miss when hardcover would come only after the reprint and the original copy was always paperback 💔

Oh, good point. I prefer paperback so I always wait to buy until I can get my hands on one. They won't get extra profit off of me 😭
