I recommend leaning into your interests, so for me it looks like: Legos! Fake flowers! Fun bookends! Typewriter! Trinkets! (Book related or not) Other fun things I don't have but could be fun: Picture frames! Candles! Video game cases! Plants!

More ideas if it's a white or black bookshelf (not if it's wood!!!): put contact paper or paint behind the shelves if your bookshelf is all one color, paint the sides with little doodles, write your favorite quotes on the side Fairy lights or string lights!
