How should I read TOG for the first time… Assassins Blade 1st or 4th??

I read it first and felt like it helped me get to know celaena and some of her motivations before getting into it! throne of glass gets straight into everything, so if you want to get to know the character before shit hits the fan and learn WHY it hit the fan read AB first if you want to get straight into it when it is already a mess then get some trauma read TOG first

I think it’s better 3rd or 4th since AB is a collection of novellas. It might be hard to get into since you don’t really know the characters being discussed

i just read TOG and i read it after COM and i felt like it took away from the plot and i was reading it fast to get back to the main plot. reading it first will help keep the plot in order

The story isn’t supposed to be chronological. That author recommends it read later

Everybody always uses the “the author recommends reading it later” argument but just bc she recommends reading it that way doesn’t mean you have to read it like that. She also wrote and published AB first. Assassins Blade was published unofficially before ToG.

Well people are allowed to read it in any order they want Reguardless of what SJM recommends. And for me, it helped to read it in chronological order. Totally understand if others like reading it later.
