genuine curiosity, so no offense, but what about this is anything special? It seems like almost an exact copy of the same scene written over and over again in "romantasy" books.. granted, I absolutely despise the genre in general so maybe that's it

yeah like no offense but this is just copypaste enemies to lovers romantasy (most of the books in this genre are perfect duplicates of each other) and they literally use the word cocky twice to describe the same thing right after the other... "ready and cocky...he stood there with brooding cockiness" for real? and then "the ends of my ribbons trill" it's just bad writing im sorry

Some people enjoy cliché writing, and this author's style isn't bad. (Or maybe that's just my opinion.) If you don't like books like this, then simply don't read them. Criticizing a book won't change someone else's enjoyment of it if that's what they like. 🤷‍♀️
