Project Hail Mary either gets people very into Sci-Fi or very into Ryan Gosling (I was the former, the book’s like a gateway drug to the sci-fi genre)

What’re your recs for sci fi? Still new to the genre (from fantasy so not a huge leap but still), I absolutely loved PHM, weir’s other two books were just okay. I didn’t like dark matter. I have also read and loved red rising and dune, but I consider those more sci-fantasy, looking for something with harder science

i’m still pretty new too, i’ve been reading The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and think it’s pretty good, not really hard sci-fi tho I’ve read Weir’s other two works also but you’ve already read those i’ve heard good things about the three body problem as far as hard sci fi goes

Thank you! I’ll definitely check out the three body problem! 3 asked about the movie for hitchhikers as well, but I actually had the same question. I’ve definitely seen more sci fi movies than read sci fi books and the hitchhiker movie didn’t really work for me. But if the book is a lot better I might check that out too

The book is so much better!!! The Hitchhikers Guide is actually a whole series, so the movie kinda crammed all of the books into one and it made very little sense. A lot of the sarcasm and world/universe explanations were lost in the movie. The absurdity and randomness are still very much a part of the books though lol
