It’s that “I’m not like other girls” pick me mentality. I hate it, and the pretty girls who like dresses are almost always depicted as bullies and evil.
Is it just me or does the trope of female main characters in fantasy books not wanting to wear dresses annoy anyone else? Like why wouldn’t you want to wear a gorgeous, beautifully crafted dress?
