Why are authors obsessed with making the FMC really short?

No genuinely like sure women are on AVERAGE shorter than men but also… come on y’all… books got me feeling like fucking Goliath for being 5’8

my fmc is short for story reasons (she used to be tall but almost died + had body transmutation, and now wishes she was tall again) 😔 also she’s not in a relationship because that’s dumb

Define “really short” because personally I haven’t seen this all too much, although it might be more common in certain genres. In general women in real life aren’t as tall as men, but I don’t recall a lot of examples of authors going out of their way to point it out, at least from things I’ve read.

Huh okay that is weird. Not familiar with the book or series but that is odd for sure. Also worth mentioning when I looked up the book just now it shows me this image 🤣

Is binding 13 the one where she struggles to climb onto a barstool cuz she’s just so short and teeny tiny 🥺

To be fair she’s malnourished, anxious, abused, and bullied so it actually makes sense in the story but I agree that it’s weird that a lot of authors only write short FMCs

I’m so sorry and I’m obviously not saying that if you’re tall you can’t experience those things but like it’s not AS weird in the case of Binding 13. Not to spoil the books but Shannon does grow and get taller once she is in a safe environment

Yeah I just wish it wasn’t mentioned/romanticized as much. Especially in the first book it felt like it was on every page.

Omg same! I get the whole height difference thing, but I mean realistically not everyone is gonna be over a foot shorter than their partner 💀

Right?!?!? And then the HORROR when people hear about a woman being taller than her boyfriend 😭😭😭

wtf. I’m no expert, but unless she’s a CHILD, why is she growing more? Also even with malnutrition, she’d have to be like sub 5’0 to struggle to get on a stool like it’s still low key ridiculous imo

She is a child…she’s 15-16 in the first book

which is when most women stop growing. again, I’m no expert so I could be wrong, I’m just drawing off my bio degree, but I’d imagine stunted growth from malnutrition to that extent wouldn’t suddenly fix itself to that degree in a year
