I think the rest of TikTok is way more of a problem than booktok

Booktok gets people reading. In no way on earth is that anti intellectual. There have always been silly books that are more fun than they are depth, but those books still hold value. They still make you think. They still hold stories and scenarios that your brain must process.

I mean a lot of BookTok is only reading smut. Like the writing is so poor bc it’s only focused on the “spice”

It’s no different than reading fanfic. In the end people are reading. Read smut. Read one shots. Read classic books. Read a menu. It doesn’t matter, in the end they’re reading and that’s what matters.

Reading smut is still reading and plenty of people who read smut also read other genres

Oh I just know 1 is a “smut is the devil” mfer because I already have them blocked. Reading books with smut, which is usually less than 5% of the whole book, is still reading! And all reading is good for your brain.
