they are destroying books but we need to stop attacking from angles that just aren’t true. there are legitimate reasons to not be down with mass data center expansion. saying they use electricity and water are not it.

they are not. our degradation of executive functioning and reliance on AI and what that means for our brains longterm are. plenty of legitimate reason to be weary of and against AI, eating obvious psyops are not good reasons and they don’t stand against any scrutiny over here yapping about Y2K like the clankers are doing more harm than Canada’s lack of forest management. they aren’t.

worrying about maximizing what equates to an insignificant portion of said problem in the most generous of estimates is pointless. yes. sorry. we should be taking care of the nuclear development that’s coinciding with data center development and focusing on what end user access entails. not pissing and moaning about less environmental waste than you actively contribute to by using the slave mined rare earth minerals and satellite access in your hands that you reinforce with every response

well this app wouldn’t exist without data centers, nether would google or any other social media you use. the entire world runs on data centers, they’re not going anywhere.

Every modern-day medical system also runs on data centers so that’s not exactly a great argument to make. MRIs don’t magically teleport from one computer to another, or patient data, etc

i think its fairly obvious from current climate regarding ai that OP was referencing AI data centers specifically. i think its common sense that the internet runs because there are data centers.

automobiles are the future and there’s nothing you can do to stop them. the best we can do is hope to push them in a positive direction to benefit us all. now stop being an insolent child and face our reality from a grounded perspective. not crying the waves are gonna ruin your sand castle.
