Seriously!! If you read any book in any format, you are a reader. This counts manga etc too. People can argue for their PERSONAL goals what counts for THEM, but if you are reading in any way, you are a reader.

Those posts make me angry and I’d block them but I feel like I can’t because I also see a lot of “do *I* count as a real reader if I…” and it makes me so sad that people posting rage bait makes other people feel insecure in their hobby

It’s seriously personal preference, what you count, what you don’t count. I’m not the one who chooses if someone is a reader or not what are we the guard at the gate?

This makes me want to be violent. I work on office job, I commute, and I am just generally a busy person, if a certain type of format doesn’t count like audio books or è-readers than I’ve read one book this week. Like this needs to stop. Sorry I’ve been hearing it a lot and it’s driving me nuts. This isn’t directed at the person who commented this

Totally agree! It was physically starting to anger me which is why I made this post. Also excusing the fact that people are essentially getting into other readers’ business, why are we so concerned with what “counts” or not? It’s not like we’re fighting for a free pizza or anything like in elementary school.

It makes me sad as well, like why do we feel like we need to justify being able to call ourselves readers?

Exactly, even if there was free pizza, everything still is on the table. I’m just happy you found a form of reading that makes you happy
