I always did it how I did with the bookstore 😊 by genre and then by author’s last name. And my top shelf is dedicated to collectors editions

Sorry about the glare from the TV, but this is how I organized mine to maximize space utility (more important to me than aesthetics since I have another shelf too but I still have five boxes of homeless books). I organize by genre and if I had my druthers I’d subcategorize by vibe, but I was forced to just do size/how it fit

If you have a really tall shelf, you can also collect empty egg cartons or small boxes or something to make a mini shelf and double shelf books with the back books being on top of the cartons so you can see them (make sure to leave room for airflow around your books tho)
