I actually do think the Netflix live action is a great intro to the series idk why some fans get really pretentious and weird about it. It’s not exactly the same story because certain things happen in different orders or different ways (for example luffy’s grandpa garp isn’t introduced until chapter 431) but if you know nothing about one piece and wanted a little taste of the world and lore it’s perfect.

In the manga buggy also isn’t defeated inside a circus with the people chained up in the crowd like in the live action, and manga/anime zoro is way sillier than live action zoro

Mangas are good, just be aware that Japanese can have some weird tastes like age gaps, toxic relationships, incest, fan service, lollis. I love manga/anime and have never regretted watching it, but these “tastes” really stop me from watching some popular animes or reading good mangas (maid sama, ancient Magnus bride, Ouran host club, vampire knight, etc). So if you run into a wonky anime/manga, please don’t be deterred from watching/reading more
